Ambient Water Monitoring Graphs - City Sites 2000-2009

A network of 23 stream sites near 10 urban areas across Iowa are being monitored for a variety of parameters. Streams are being monitored in the cities of Ames, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Fort Dodge, Iowa City, Marshalltown, Mason City, Ottumwa, Spencer, and Waterloo. For each city, the stream is monitored upstream of the urban area and downstream of each city's wastewater treatment facility outfall. Some of the cities have two streams that merge in the city and exit as one stream (i.e., Spencer, Fort Dodge, Des Moines). For these cities, both streams are monitored upstream, while one site is monitored downstream. These sites have been monitored on a monthly basis since October 2000. Prior to October 2000, sites were sampled once during the fall of 1999 and the spring of 2000. The graphs below summarize the data from all sites by month collected from spring 2000 through September 2009.
