Groundwater Monitoring


  • About GW Monitoring
    The groundwater monitoring network describes and measures groundwater quality throughout Iowa, characterizes aquifers in different hydrogeological environments,  measures water quality changes and identifies trends in Iowa's aquifers.

  • Dedicated Well Monitoring
    Wells solely dedicated to monitoring groundwater quality in aquifers used by citizens and municipalities.

  • Municipal Well Network
    60 municipal wells from particular aquifers  rotated into the sampling routine each year.

  • Private Wells
    A study to assess water quality in incorporated Iowa communities that only use private wells for drinking water.

  • Water Level Network
    This network consists of 159 wells in different aquifers whose water levels are measured at least quarterly.
