Regional and County Groundwater Resources
Several syntheses of extant information and information derived from directed research on water resources have been prepared in the form of water atlases, county groundwater reports, and regional studies. Six water atlases, prepared in cooperation with the U.S. Geological Survey, cover several counties and contain information on surface water, geology, water levels, potential well yields, water quality, and water use. Two U.S. Geological Survey water resources investigations reports discuss the hydrology, availability, and water quality of various aquifers in western Iowa. The 25 published county groundwater reports are syntheses of hydrogeologic information specific to the county, including the nature of groundwater occurrence, depth to various aquifers, potential well yields, water quality, and recommendations for well construction, water treatment, and well abandonment. In addition there are two water atlases and five water supply bulletins that deal with the groundwater resources of selected counties or areas. Iowa's Municipal Water-Supply Inventory (MWSI) is an active database of information about the water supplies of Iowa's municipalities and rural water supplies.

Appanoose, Boone, Dallas, Davis, Des Moines, Grundy, Hamilton, Hardin, Henry, Iowa, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe, Polk, Story, Van Buren, Wapello, Warren, and Washington.
