Major Responsibilities:
Provides a full complement of support services to staff of the Geological Survey
Bureau. Provides information to the public via mail orders, phone, e-mail, or
walk in customers. Provides administrative support for hiring student employees
and subsequent raises, evaluations, change of status and terminations.
MARY PAT HEITMAN, Word Processor

Major Responsibilities: Provides administrative support services to
the IGS staff. She serves the public through the dissemination and utilization
of geological information. Prepares documents such as purchase orders, payment
vouchers, travel vouchers, etc., while at the same time checking for
completeness and presence of supporting documents. Maintains a general
spreadsheet which classifies, codes, and posts purchases per cost center, thus
enabling necessary budget-making decisions.
JOOST KORPEL, IT Specialist

Major Responsibilities: As a member of the Geological
Society of Iowa and a Microsoft Certified Professional Joost provides
expertise in both geology, IT network administration and data management
(including STORET).
JOHN SCHMIDT, Systems Analyst, M.S. (The University of Iowa)

Major Responsibilities: In working with IGS Information Technology for
the last 22 years, John provides network administration support Novell and
Windows networks, including file, print and e-mail services. Prepares educational documentation, establishes standards and procedures to be
followed by staff, in accordance with DNR and ITE standards. Provides support
and database administration for various applications including SDWIS and PWTS,
utilizing skills in GIS concepts and Crystal reports, MS SQL Server, ODBC and
XML.
