The Geological Survey Bureau serves as a technical and scientific advisor on matters of
Iowa's earth history, landscape features, and the characteristics of rock, mineral, and
water resources that occur on the surface and beneath the ground. Service is provided to
the general public, to all levels of government and educational institutions, to business
and industry, and to technical and professional organizations. Reliable geological
information and assessments benefit natural resource management, environmental protection,
economic development, and public awareness and understanding of these issues.
By selecting from the Service menu we have provided some basic pointers to
IGS information services and
regulatory duties, and the appropriate person to contact for more details.
